Seosulla-gil, located in Jongno, is one of the trendiest streets in Seoul these days. On sunny days with a cool breeze, this area becomes even more vibrant, especially with outdoor seating available at many cafés.
One highlight of Seosulla-gil is that vehicle access is restricted on weekends, making it more pedestrian-friendly. Among the cafés here, we visited Teumari, a unique spot where you can enjoy both hanok architecture and natural elements like trees.
Before the full summer heat sets in, now is the perfect time to visit.
About Teumari Café
Teumari is a café and wine bar housed in a renovated hanok. You can enjoy a variety of drinks, including wine, in a warm and inviting atmosphere. The café spans three floors, each offering a distinct vibe:
-
1st Floor: Cozy space with warm wooden interior (limited seating)
-
2nd Floor: A loft-style floor with floor seating, giving a hideaway feel
-
3rd Floor Rooftop: Offers open-sky views and a fantastic look at Jongmyo Shrine — a great photo spot!
⚠️ Note: The stairs to the rooftop are extremely steep, almost like a ladder. Please be careful when climbing.
Although the first floor might look small, don’t hesitate to explore the upper floors — the view is worth it!
Menu & Ordering Tips
The café serves various drinks and desserts, such as cookies and cakes. We ordered:
-
Strawberry Milk Tea (tasted more like a strawberry latte)
-
Einspänner
-
Matcha Cookie
At first, we sat at a sunny bar table, then moved to a shaded one when it became available. The view from the bar table was the best — with the Jongmyo stone wall and plenty of trees right in front of us, it felt like a moment of peace in the city.
Interestingly, although the stairs are steep, drinks are delivered via a dumbwaiter (small food elevator), likely for safety reasons. Pick up your drinks there and return the trays to the collection area next to it. Such thoughtful service was a pleasant surprise!
Nearby Attractions
Right next to the café, there’s a lovely rose spot along the stone wall where many visitors line up to take photos — a perfect place for that “Instagrammable” shot.
There’s also a Dotori (acorn-themed) caricature artist nearby, which can be a fun way to wrap up your visit.
